OK. I was thinking it was pretty weird that I wasn't really all that upset before Doug left. Figured I must be in denial. Then I got PINKEYE (yep, you read that right) and missed our last Wednesday clinic together. AND it was Chik-fil-A day. How crappy is that?!??!? But even when I said goodbye to him on Friday night at Jenn's, I was surprised at how "fine" I was doing.
The next week, without Doug in Wednesday clinic, I was fine, too. Really, it was just like he was on service or something. Right?? Then last week I was on vacation in Florida, all was well. Yesterday, I was busy busy busy at home. L took a marathon nap. After two loads of laundry, checking all my emails from when I was out, picking up toys, and deciding to move L's car seat to a different seat in my car, I was all finished with all my "stuff" and nothing to do. Cindy is out of town - well, she's in India - and I was thinking of Wednesday clinic without Doug OR Cindy - and it hit me. I am no longer in denial! I am morose thinking of my first Wednesday clinic without Doug and Cindy in a loooooooong time. At least Cindy's coming back. Sorry for this bad-mood post but I guess I have the right to mope for at least a while. Nothing personal, Jenn (I know what you are thinking) I am just getting used to the new Wednesday deal.
Anyway, I have some great pictures of Doug's going away party (the one at work - as usual, I am horrible about taking pictures when I should and I have no pictures of the party we had at our house). For your viewing pleasure:
Our Wednesday crew - Roxana, Doug, Gail (in the back there), me, and Cindy
Doug and the book we had his patients make for him - the Child Life specialists had the kids make pages with coloring and their handprints. Of course, we made pages, too (but we had to coerce Jenn) . A little play therapy never hurt anyone...
Doug and the "going-away cake"
The tie we had made for him - it was designed by one of his patients
L doing what she does best at Doug's party
You can't expect me to have a blog and not post a cute picture of my girl from time to time...
