Don't fear the cowbell.........

Yep, another blog.... just because we didn't want Doug to miss everyone in Dallas (or at least me and Cindy) too much!

The Inspection

Sorry about the silence on my end - it has been really crazy around here - overall the inspection on the house was fine, except it looks like there is a considerable amount of work that needs to be done on the chimney (about 10K) - we have requested that the seller take care of it prior to closing, and we are now awaiting her response. I am starting to have a bad feeling that this house is going to fall through. If it does, at least we haven't given notice at the apartment, and it looks like the housing market is switching from a sellers market to a buyers market.

I will be on call for the next 10 days (starting last night through next weekend) since most everyone else here will be going to COG in LA (at least that way, I get to come to Dallas in the spring).

I promise that I will keep posting a minimum of once a week (and more often if anything notable or exciting happens).

By the way, yesterday, I got a wonderful letter from Ashlee B. along with her school picture - it really brought tears to my eyes.

SHEE POO

Hmm, maybe I should change the name of the blog back, because it has been awwwwwwfully quiet since the switch.

Doug, let us know how the inspection went and if things are moving ahead with the new house.

This morning, Lucy came up to me and announced "Shee Poo". And just looked at me like, of course, I should know what this means. I asked her to repeat herself, and she did. I told her I didn't understand what she was saying. Now I get the "what planet are you from" look and she enunciated very carefully for me - "SHEEEEEE POOOOOOO, Mommy".

Finally I said "Lucy, show it to me". She turns around and marches to her bedroom, and points up at the dresser. Which is where, after changing the sheets on her bed, I had left Xing Fu, her beloved boxer stuffed animal Doug gave her after we came home. Just out of her reach. She does love that puppy and probably manages to have a tea party with her every single day. Good thing Fu Fu likes tea.

Sorry, I know I am "crazy picture mom" now, but is she just not too cute? I bring this one, in particular, out after a day like today when we had eight (I think) time outs. That may be a new record for us. Ack.

Someone, please, post something. Anything will do. I'll even read about Jenn's GERD.

In cowbell news, did anyone see the "100 greatest SNL moments" on E! this weekend? I tried to watch for some precious cowbell time, but had to leave at number 54 (and, of course, I figure that one was in the top five for sure). I guess I could Google it to see for sure......

Re-named

OK, the cowbell blog, aka Doug's former life, is henceforth to be known as "The Life and Times of the Wednesday Crew". At least until we change it again!

New Title?

Since I am now able to post on this blog, perhaps it shouldn't be "Doug's Former Life" - how about "The Life and Times of the Wednesday Crew"

My awesome friends

Cindy gave me a birthday party Friday night, and it could not have been more perfect. Well, I suppose it might have been a little more perfect if Cindy hadn't decided to try on her too-small jeans to show us exactly how they didn't fit..... but I think Jon has recovered now. Lizzie and Jonathan left before the donning of the jeans and the sighting of the thong, so they were spared.

I got a wonderful bouquet - of cards from my friends! Tamra got a beautiful red vase and it had little floral picks in there holding all the cards (with sour Starburtst to hold them up - mmmmm). Each card had a "certificate" for something - free babysitting from Jenny, fresh cut flowers from Jenn, a gourmet meal cooked by Priscilla, a photo session at the pumpkin patch for Lucy from Cindy, Thai takeout from Martha, sour Skittles and flowers from Cristina... throw in the bottle of Riesling from Thresa, the most-comfy-in-the-world Gap Body yoga pants from Lizzie, and a totally delicious chocolate mousse cake from Whole Foods... and, well, a girl couldn't have felt more loved!! OH - but I forgot the coolest thing of all - Jon and Audra promised to invite "my George" to all future heme/onc gatherings! Now THAT'S a true friend!

Really, it was awesome. And as usual, Cindy's spread was impressive. Including the quince paste, cheese and crakcer/bread tray. Of course, we all had to make fun of Cindy for saying "quince" like "keen-say" instead of like "kwinse". Cindy you know I love you, catorce paste and all.

I have the best friends in the whole world! I am one lucky girl. Of course, did I bring my camera? Nooooooo. I had it out on the counter, ready to go and everything. And that's where it stayed all night. But I think someone took photos. Jenn, Cindy, if you have any, please post. I am hoping no one snapped any photos during the jeans incident!!

I'm In !!!!!!!!

Thanks, Maria for getting me into the blog-o-sphere.

So, here is the house that we are trying to buy - it is a 4-bedroom, 3 bath house built in 1927 within walking distance to the kids' school, church, grocery store, the library a great grocery store (equivalent to Central Market) and several good restaurants - I unfortunately, will have to commute (about 8 minutes of drive time). There are some real advantages to being in a small city. The house is in a great neighborhood (close to the Grove Park Inn).

The inspection is scheduled for next Thursday (Sept 21) - that is really the only major potential stumbling block ahead of us.

Keep on Blogging - I look for a new post almost every morning.

Doug

Nice house!

Hope everything falls into place!

I re-sent another invite to your home and work emails, so hopefully one or the other worked. It took several tries for Jenn.

We'll take pictures at Cindy's tonight so you can feel like you are there with us!

Got to go, taking L for professional photos. If she cooperates, that is. She's 2 now, isn't "being oppositional" in her job description??

OOOH!

I just noticed that Jenn is showing up on ye olde blog!!

I wouldn't know since I am the ONLY ONE POSTING!

Hi Doug...

Your comments showed up, maybe they were delayed - that happens sometimes on the ol' Blogger.

You should have gotten an email about membership on our blog - did that happen? I sent to your home email but I'll try again.

Sorry for no tales... after two weeks of not-so-busy clinic, it has been just crazy this week! Glad to hear that the Sponge Bob tie is bringing in new business!!!

Cindy and I miss you a ton. I mean, a TON. Cindy's having a party for Jenny on Friday night, so that always promises some good pictures.

Lucy turned 2 yesterday! And I turn 32 tomorrow so a big week in our house. Lucy has a new tricycle that Mike gets to teach her to ride :)

MISS YOU. Did I say that before??

Doug you know you miss us...

Great news!! Thanks to my clinic friends, I went online to the Dallas Centtral Appraisal District and have once again found my George's address. Oh yeah, baby. He is cloooooose by and I can't wait to do a drive by. Hooray!!!

In other news, Charles tried on the Sponge Bob tie today. However, no one can fill your shoes - or your tie, as the case may be. It didn't last very long!

MISS YOU DOUG!

Sorry, no pictures again.
